This song was written by Peter Oviatt. I first met Peter in the Fall of 2005 when we camped together at the Walnut Valley Festival. Peter was a lot of fun to camp with. Whitney joined the camp the following year. We have camped together ever since. Peter was becoming a pretty good guitar and mandolin player.
Then – transcendence – On Saturday morning of the Festival in 2008, I was asleep in the back of my van – someone was sitting on my back bumper, playing the most beautiful banjo music – the extent of my hangover had made me unable to turn over and see who was playing – later, as my recovery allowed me to rise and move around a bit, I asked who was playing the banjo – turned out it was Peter
That night we got him on stage 7 with the White Trash Reunion – When Peter still lived in Kansas, Mike West said he was the best banjo player in the state.
