Single released 11/8/2019
This really is the centerpiece of the album. Everything revolves around this idea that allowing ourself to be feeling without judgment is heling. It's about emotional commonality and understanding that our emotions are coming from a similar uprising and desire to heal ourselves. Tears are healing in the Anishnabe tradition. They clean the world. When one cries in ceremony, water is offered, not to stop the crying but to make sure you don’t stop before you’re finished.
lyrics
My friend is a drunk. He said so himself. It was hard when his father put the bottle on the shelf. And he reminds me of a man I saw get that same look, the loss of a somethin that somebody took. And I see me. My friend is a man with love in his eyes, behind that a powerful, sorrowful hurt. And he reminds me of a place where I think I belong, like a brother who knows all the words to the song. And I see me. And I’m not afraid of their tears. And I am embracing mine, too. The waters that wash away wounds, this is my healing. This is our healing. I knew her not well when I first heard her cry. The brother she loved walked right up to the sky. The wail of a woman’s unmistakeable grief, and desperate pleading that bring no relief.
